Dec 20th: Open bar party.

It was afternoon. Nothing ideal came up to my mind to suppress the boredom untill Pritam called me up subsequently followed by Amit's call. However I could pick the latter one as the former one was just a missed call. He mentioned to come quick, pick him up & reach at Pritam's place. At that moment I guessed  maybe it was Buniyaad, who was persistently trying to cook a goat head but was unsuccessful, is now ready to make his day. Ofcourse with some beers as it was a daytime. I was already in my dress. Quickly I started my mediocre bike & rode off to Amit's place. Within no time I was there & then we set off for Pritam's. On the way we had to re-route our destination to the chicken shop. Yes, that meant the party was on. We saw Dhundu there with 4 kgs of raw chicken ready to be cooked. I corrected myself. It was Shubankar who all of a sudden had decided to have a party. Generally, these parties turn out to be chaotic ones. Very peaceful in the beginning. Then Pritam, Shubankar, Amit, Buniyaad, Dhundu & I were back to Pritam's place. Ready to cook by 3pm(Before pp's mom arrives). Matru was hovering around nearby. He was right on time. He always is for this kind of occasions.

I was removing the onion peels. Amit & Dhundu were busy chopping it off. Buniyaad got the chicken ready with all the ingredients put to cook off. Pritam played some music. Obviously those were Arijit Singh's. He is a great fan of his songs. Almost an hour later the chicken was ready. It was meant to be dry. But the phone calls of Sonali(Buni's gf) played with his mind & he overcooked it. He is now having a record of spoiling it. Subu had brought 3 full bottles of McDowell's No.1 whisky. He was thinking of Blenders Pride. Something changed his mind. In the meantime I went back to home, got a quick bath & right on field. Yes the field is here the subject title. The open bar. Its basically a playing ground big enough as a 40 yard circle of cricket stadiums. But during night you can see people in groups having their gala night. Ours was one of them. We had a spot recognised for our merry time. Guys with four wheelers encircled it. Pritam set the place with newspaper to sit on. The chicken was covered with a lid. Cold drinks, soda, water pouches, wafers, cigarette of variety, a long strip of jaljeera & other small edible items in packs. The matchbox too. Amit started pouring in the whisky. As usual he was the bartender amongst us.  Almost everybody had arrived. Bunty, Arjun, Vikas, Amlan, Tutu & Deba. Banka was missing. He had returned back to Mumbai. Everybody had glasses in one hand & some had  cigarettes or lays. A loud "cheers" echoed in the field. Belated birthday party.

Slowly as time went past, bottles got emptied & guys in inebriated mood became more thirsty. In the meanwhile a kid whom we fondly called 'Tingra', from the neighbourhood had joined us for the drinks. Smokes fumed up & voices grew louder with each peg. Few accidentally spilled their drink & few had their own choice of unadulterated shot. When the drinks were done all stood up for more. Amit went home. Pritam & Amlan went for whisky. Shubankar & co went for something which was not known by me as i was high. I had three puffs of pot. After a few minutes everybody was back & Pritam started pouring in for the pegs. Those were not properly mixed as done by Amit. While I was in my 1st, people started drinking in a brisk pace taking it to 2-3 at a moment. Complete chaos prevailed over. It was evening time. Gradually few guys went home. Chandan came for a while with two pints. He was gone in no time. Everybody was equally aware of his romance times. Dhundu started vomiting & he was flat out. I went for a ride with Shubankar on Durga's bike. I hardly remember that scene. Maybe it took 4-5 minutes to his home then the glasses' shop then back to the havoc scenario.

It was 8pm. Buniyaad didn't come. I heard his voice over phone which was a bit gloomy. I decided to ride to his home. Pritam was too high to ride but he didn't let me to. Accidentally the handle of Durga's bike slipped off his hands & fell on the ground. Amlan & Durga did say something regarding it which Pritam took it to his heart. Tears rolled out of his eyes. Shubankar couldn't tolerate this. Before I could say anything Shubankar was totally raged. He was on fire. He was ready to kick some ass. Somehow Pritam prevented him from doing so. Bunty came in & slapped Amlan for his remarks to Pritam. Shubankar was so furious that he couldn't stop his anger from exhibiting. So he went off to his home. Amlan had called up his few friends who were totally unknown to us. They were having Jolly Rogers. Then I thought its a good idea to leave as Priya had been calling Pritam to Kaalia's. Pritam was mad & high. He was going on with these words " Somebody kill me." He couldn't stand straight. So we decided to leave. I thought that was it. That place was nasty. Newspapers, chicken bones, cigarette buds, burnt match sticks, set of old and new glasses, polyethenes were all over. Dogs were sneaking in for the bones. Near the Kaalia's Pritam again started with " KILL ME". He even slapped Priya. Priya now was fully aware of the situation. He whispered in my ear to take Pritam home. We tried a lot. But failed. I went with Matru to take my bike back. Amit was having the vision that we would be having a night out. That was so ruined. We met Pritam. Pacified him & were back to respective homes with food. My head was totally heavy like i was carrying a rice sack on my head. I was completely back in sense. Consciousness is highly required when you go home. That was all about the day.

South Asia's Regional Conundrum.

History is geographically distributed while Geography is historically influenced. The Asian continent was largely in a colonial period for two centuries which left its geo-economic interests dwindling with the interference of geo-political influence of Europeans nations. This impact had a devastating impact on Asian nations on the basis of socio-economic status. In the 20 th century, the Asian nations started recovering slowly. After the post colonialization period certain demarcations were formed rechristening a few countries albeit sharing the same cultural, linguistic and ethnic identities. The South East Asian nations are on a trajectory path leading to a healthy GDP nations which are rapidly on rise. The true potential in the South Asian nation still remains untapped. The One belt, One road corridor proposed by China which is known as ‘Maritime Silk Road’ is a better prospect in improving the trade and prosperity among the Africa-Asia-Europe nations. This is a a very ambitiou...

The greatest time of our lives.

29th March, 2015: Presentation Ceremony: Mark: Bazz, you said, again and again, this is the greatest time of your lives? Bazz: It has been one hell of a ride. Staying unbeaten throughout the tournament. But, eventually, failing to cross the final hurdle. Making us the second best Cricket Team in the World. The question here asked by Mark was not framed by him. It was what Bazz said after winning and re-winning crunch games. This quote is now remarkable, even if The Kiwis fail to win the one last stop.  Let's get it rewind. Rendezvous 1: Its a fine cold morning in Christchurch. People have come with their woollen jackets. Some are in their thick black blankets. Some have beer glasses. Kids in Black Caps Jersey. Crowd are still flocking in. The National Anthem is over. There has been a slight drizzle of water. One fiery, curl haired, Sinhalese guy licks his hand, adds a bit saliva to the ball. Trying to shine it. Ready for the run up. Locks his sight on the batsman. Takes a s...
