Goal: The dream begins

The story is about a young chap who is an ardent football fan, buff, freak or an enthusiast. The name's Santiago Munez. Yes, spanish. Not Spanish Spanish. He is Mexican Spanish.

He had been through poverty since his childhood. His father had some tough times. Escaping their family from Mexico to LA. As you know in the drug entrenched zones, either somebody from the cartel shoots you off or end up in jail. Sant's mom walked out on their family which his father had to face the status quo. Santiago's father never thought his children to live beyond their small truck business. But little did he know his elder son whose back of mind was brewing strong urge to play football at the highest level. The passion was right intact since his childhood days. The extremely talented footballer Santiago meets Glenfoy who watches him play at a local suburb's playground. Glenfoy assures him to move to England where he could possibly have tests for the Club New Castle. Despite Santiago's father strong denial & harsh rebukes, his granny nudges him to move England.

Just with a few bucks he reaches England & stays with Glenfoy. Then comes his introduction in the club. Inspite of being nervous at his first trial he is given a month's chance to prove his sportsmanship & honour his talent. Even in the first reserve game he fails to impress the Coach Erik Dornhelm due to his asthmatic bronchitis. After having a confrontation with the coach about the asthma, he jettisons all the pressure off & sets for the next game. Fortunately getting a chance in the game against the Chelsea he assists a few. The most intriguing part was back at his home in LA, in a pub, his despicable dad goes berserk in happiness over the match. Amidst all the struggle, his dad dies of stroke. Santiago after contemplating a lot in the airport, on his way back to home, returns back to the club without boarding the flight. Astonishingly, the coach & Glenfoy were taken aback by his guts & heart. Getting a match against Liverpool starring Steven Gerrard is never so easy. But our own Santiago pulls off a superb free-kick to a goal amidst all the incredulous cheering & vibrant thunder of joy. Is this what his father wanted after watching his reserve game? Will he sustain his position?

Well, there are some football stars in the movie. Like David Beckham. You could see the same packed stadium crowds with lively atmosphere once the ball is near the opposition's court. The director deserves a bow down due to his ability to create such scenario. Making a sport game has never been easy.

Note: Even though you're not a football fan, go watch it. It portrays a few awesome moments in that boy's transition phase which you will adore it definitely.
